- Previously mounted equipment: Removal or repair of this equipment falls outside standard installation procedure. However, this work may be performed with a signed Waiver of Liability.
- Height: Mounting to a roof structure that exceeds one story in height.
- Pole mounts: The pole mount is only included in standard installation when it’s needed for the satellite dish to have a clear view of the southern sky.
Question: What do I need to know before my HughesNet installation?
There are a few things to ask yourself prior to your scheduled HughesNet installation date:
1) Do you have a clear view of the southern sky?
In order for your dish to receive optimal signal and send information to the satellite in space, a clear line of sight to the southern sky is required. Without a clear view of the southern sky, you may have less than satisfactory service. To ensure that you receive the fastest speeds, be sure to remove any obstructions that may block your dish. Your technician will also check for any obstructions prior to installation.
2) Do you know the date and time of your scheduled installation?
Make sure you are home during the installation process. You must be over 18 years of age. Double-check your schedule to avoid any conflicts. Though the installation may finish sooner than expected, you’ll want to be around should any installation questions arise.
3) Do you have the right computer system requirements for HughesNet?
HughesNet is compatible with Windows Vista, 7, and 8 as well as with Mac OS 10.7 (Lion), 10.8 (Mountain Lion), and 10.9 (Mavericks). You will need a PC with ethernet network capability, or a wireless router of your choice to use with your other wireless devices.
4) Which room in your home will house your computer and modem?
To ensure the fastest installation, make sure your computer is set up and ready for use. This will also allow the technician to quickly test your new HughesNet service once the modem has been set up and the connection established.
Should you have any other HughesNet installation questions, feel free to ask your knowledgeable HughesNet representative when you place your order. They are happy to help!
